This is my parents tank and one of their guppies has a huge stomach. They are wondering if they were accidentally sold a female because they bought males from the male Guppy tank at the pet store. Does this look like a pregnant female or a bloated male? If its a bloated male, what can they do to help? Sorry for the poor picture quality the guppies move fast and my parents are due to clean the algae in the tank!

That’s a male
Thats not a pregnancy, the pregnancy is further back, more spread out and you can see the babies in the back of the belly as an almost black mass.
This looks like a disease, possibly dropsy. If caught early it can be treated but onse scales no longer sit flat on the belly its almost always to late and euthinasia becomes more humane.
But dont be to hasty and always take second opinions on the internet.
