As the title states.
I used to have the nozzles nearly level with the waters surface, but tonight, I lowered them about 3" underwater, hoping to fix the aeration issue I've been having. The tank is fitted with a bubbler. It's on a remote switch. The only time I ever turn it on is during filter cleanings and water changes when the filter is not on.
My issue is that I sleep next to this tank. The bubbler is annoying. The FX2 and AC50 are essentially silent. The bubbler is not.
Can I get away with the bubbler being on a timer? Say, off from 10:00pm to 8:00am, and running the rest of the day? Just off while I sleep…

More than enough agitation. Basically the only circumstance you’d need strictly bubbler would be if you had a canister with a submerged output. HOB filters are the GOAT of surface agitation!
I’m sure if would be fine but if I were you I’d have it turn on at 5 or 6am. It might be hard to go to sleep with it on but it surely won’t be loud enough to wake you up.
Surface agitation is most important at night. When there’s no light the plants suck up way more oxygen.
That being said, the surface agitation you have looks fine. If you’ve rigged up that AC50 to be silent, you are a better man than I!
Looks good to me.
Question is what is that little dohicky you have the flow going into? It looks like it’s helping to spread the flow over the top of the water versus down into the tank like a waterfall.
Also, did you get those floater corrals somewhere or make your own? Those look a lot nicer than my air line ring version.
Definitely enough agitation. Especially for 10 hours.
Looks like great agitation.
Did you print that little boundary thing for the HOB yourself? Looks perfect for holding off floaters.
Very clean, nice
Oh yes
Please correct me, but would you need a bubbler with that surface agitation anyway?
You can ditch the bubbler entirely.
No need for a bubbler at all but if for some reason you do want it putting the body of it on top of a folded up cloth or foam will help with the vibrating sound a ton
