I just got him yesterday, did all the proper things to get him into the tank:
Used the solution to prep the water for betta fish, got the water to 78°F, have a filter, plenty of hiding spots, acclimated him to the new water little by little before adding him to the 5 gal tank. I’ve had many betta fish before and never had any issues.
Initially when I put him in the tank, he was floating at the top, was barely breathing, and only occasionally swimming a very short distance and then went back to the corner. Now he’s sitting at the bottom of the tank and seems to have very labored breathing.
Is this just stress from a new home? Or is there something wrong?

what are the water parameters?
The gravel and decor may be causing issues by leaching toxins into the water. Can we get a photo of the full tank?
Looks cute! I see you got a snail! Is that smaller than 5 Gallons? Maybe smaller toys?
