Can someone help me? I’m currently cycling my tank I’m about two weeks in and the ammonia (I used Dr Tim’s ammonia) is just beginning to turn into nitrites, however I have a ton of nitrates. I have no idea why.
Do I need to bring the nitrates down or just leave it? Would this be too much nitrates for a betta? If so how do I keep the nitrates down? Thanks 🫶🏼🫶🏼

  1. You don’t need to do anything right now. Results like this are normal and expected during a fishless cycle and they’re not harmful to the process.

Once the tank is cycled, change a lot of water to drop the nitrates below 20ppn before you add the fish.
