Found this while cleaning out my tank. What is it? And is it harmful to my nerite snail?

Scud. Generally harmless in tanks with fish, but can get very out of control in shrimp-only tanks

Scud, if you have fish they will be kept in check and can be very beneficial as a live food source. If you only have shrimp or snails only they can over populate and compete for food with no predators.

Looks like a scud. Little shrimp-like detritivores.
They’re helpful and clean up extra food and dead plant matter. I keep a little tank of them in my basement, and feed some to my male betta now and then to keep him busy and happy.
No need to get rid of them. I guess they’re kind of like snails; as long as you aren’t overfeeding the tank, their population tends to stay in check.
