My best betta boi, Domino the Dominator, has developed some chronic constipation. I want to add daphnia to his diet long term. Something I can easily feed every day…
I keep reading, "feed your betta daphnia", but how do you do it???
Please help me find a way to feed him daphnia…
1) He HATES freeze-dried food, will not eat it soaked to save his life. That is not an option.
2) Frozen daphnia is SO SMALL, he kind of bites at it, but doesn't get any substantial amount, and it makes a ton of waste in the tank.
3) Live daphnia would be an entirely new tank I have to develop/feed/culture/clean/care for, and I'm not ready to do that because I'm already caring for 5+ tanks…
My current idea is to… try to make frozen daphnia jello with gelatin. Then pour a very thin layer on a sheet to bake/dry. To maybe make flakes, I could freeze then feed every day??
All input is welcome! TIA!

I use pipettes to spot feed when I feed frozen. I melt the amount I want in a little bit of tank water then use the pipettes to get just the good stuff.
Daphnia though is more of a once a week thing. It doesn’t have a ton of nutrients, mostly fiber. Which is great for regulating of course.
Mysis Shrimp are much better nutritionally and are also a bit bigger. More of a regular diet. 🙂
Get a daphnia culture and feed him live daphnia. That’s what I do
I just came to comment that Domino is a very handsom boy.
