Got a new juvenile brislenose pleco. Is it a he or a she? The seller said its 8 months old and its about 6cm long and they are not sure about the gender.

Female! Looks exactly like my female bristlenose longfin super red. They get nubby little devil horns instead of the bristles.
I’m honestly really enjoying my female pleco, she’s really energetic and it gives me the chance to see her throughout the day. The males have a “hole up in cave” instinct because they’re the ones that manage fry, so it’s pretty common for there to be a difference in how often you see them.

Honestly could be both, but I am leaning towards female, just because of its size. Some boys get the bristles later, but as time goes on, chances of it being a boy are slimming down.
