I had to share this. I had a bout of hair algea and it was everywhere in my tank, growing long strands. I added a siamese algea eater to my tank and he gobbled the hair algea right up. But on one lava rock he only ate the hair algea down to a certain size, giving the hair algea a "japan moss garden" type look. Now I have this beautiful "moss" covered rock where the moss sways with the current. And requires zero maintence. I swear, the little algea eater has made this his own personel garden to snack on, only eating the algea down to a point so it doesnt get eradicated and continues to grow. So cool!!!!
I wish I could get hair algea to grow on my other rocks now. Maybe lava rocks are unique for this.

So cool! Nature sure is beautiful
It probably has something to do with the rough texture of the lava rocks. He doesn’t want to scrape against it.
