My grandfather left me a big box of cool fly fishing stuff – a large vintage fly collection, and a bunch reels. I mostly fish with spinning rods, but have always wanted to get into fly fishing – it would be neat to do it with some of grandpa and great grandpa's old gear.
I can mostly identify the manufacturers of these reels, but don't know much about them – when are these Hardy reels from? Are they worth using for some PNW steelhead and trout fishing? Everything seems to spin nicely, and they all make a great sound.
Is there anything particularly interesting or valuable in here that I wouldn't want to damage as a beginner? Which reels do you think will be the "best" for general purpose river fishing of trout, steelhead?
