Fill it up, get some clean poly fill, stick it either in your filter or stuff it in a water bottle and attatch to a power head inlet. Should clear up in a few days.

Another option is to fill it partially up a few times and do a few water changes. Each time you fill it back up. Pour water back in ontop of a plastic bag so it doesn’t stir up more sediment

Eventually it’ll settle, but everytime you put water in or move something it’ll kick back up, a filter while cos tantly change the Floss would get rid of alot of it

  3. I’d wait for others to chime in, but I think gathering mud+sand from the outside was likely not a good idea. Rocks and wood can be heat treated to be made safe, but mud and sand are a different story. I’m not nearly as experienced as others, though, so wait for more info to be posted first.

In a general sense; yes, the water will clear up, but it takes time for particles to settle.

  4. Not sure getting local mud and sand was a good idea. Seems like a recipe for a lot of foreign organisms the will probably hit tropical fish. That said unless your going to catch local fish and put them in in which case it’s pretty small of a tank

I run bare gravel in my tanks and get great plant growth and shrimp populations.

Dirt and mud is for 5yr old kids.
