Hello I don’t know if this is the right subreddit. But I’m new to fish I have a 10 gallon tank with water fall filter and a heater setup. 2 days ago I randomly found the pleco unmoving pale and dead unfortunately I found him after I got off of work so he was in there for at least 7 hours I’m not sure how long he was dead for tho because he hides in that barrel. But I did not see him before I left to work. It is now 2 days later and my dwarf gourami now looks like this almost looks like he has a white film/fuz on him and just sitting at the bottom of the tank less colorful and was like hiding behind the heater yesterday. This is Petco fish so i understand probably not the healthiest but this is extremely sudden and I’m not sure what to do

Sorry title is a bit misleading dwarf gourami is still alive but not doing so good. Will probably die tonight if I had to guess if without treatment for whatever the hell this could possibly be
Did you dechlorinate the water and did you cycle your tank
Test water parameters
Water parameters?
unfortunately the tank doesn’t look very suitable for fish. Please try reading up on aquariums, proper stocking practices and the nitrogen cycle before buying any more living animals.
Plastic plants smh. You didn’t test nitrite and you didn’t cycle and you probably don’t even know what cycling means? If yes, be ashamed, as you purchased animals without looking up how to properly take care of them. Be more considerate next time.
For now, do a large water change to save the gourami. Use dechlorinator. Call up the shop and ask if you can return it. Meanwhile, go online and gather information on cycling, how it’s done and why it’s necessary. Best of luck!
What are your parameters? Do you have live plants? Live plants help stabilize the water. If your tank is uncycled, that dead pleco for sure made your ammonia spike, and without live plants it’s likely killing your gourami. Ammonia in water tests should always read 0 and nitrites should be 0 as well. Weekly water changes should be done, about 25% of the water, and you should always be dechlorinating the water each time.
