Aquariums: First 10gal tank

Hello! My girlfriend and I have been researching heavily and finally put together our first tank last week. I’m just looking for any advice anyone might have regarding fish selection or cycling.

We’re currently cycling fishless with food and had around 1ppm ammonia today. We’ll continue to add fish food and monitor until we’re at a steady 0. Also added some sea chem stabilizer to try to kick it off.

As for fish, we’re planning on following aquarium co-ops guide for a 10g with a center piece fish. (I don’t know if I can link on this sub). We’re thinking a Honey Gourami, 6 neon green tetras and two nerite snails.
