Hey guys,
so my wife just got me this 60l tank for my birthday and we just finished setting it up. So now i am wondering what kind of fish would suit my aquarium.
We were thinking of putting in shrimps and maybe a betta or neon tetras. I’d really like a fish that stands out against the green and brown tones of the tank.
I am open for any recommendations 🙂

  1. It’s a tad small for multiple fish or anything that swims a lot, so be careful not to overcrowd it. I would use it as a betta tank. You can really show people that “just a betta” doesn’t have to be in a small, boring bowl on a shelf, and it’ll last way longer and look way prettier than the old timers and kids that throw them in those little 1-2 gal hexagon tanks

A suggestion if you want a school rather than a single fish: clown killies or other micro-killifish would do well in this setup. You would want to invest in a fine mesh lid as they do jump, but that advice covers any fish you’d want to put in this tank.

  3. I think a single male betta would have a blast in that. Be sure to leave a couple of strong plants for him to rest

Does it have a heater? A solid dark colored background would help hide the equipment and help colorful fish stand out too. I’d suggest ember tetras and/or ruby tetras. Possibly a few shrimp too. But it all depends on your water conditions. Make sure your tank goes through the nitrogen cycle properly first or else you risk losing a bunch of fish.

Not big enough for neon tetras to feel safe to shoal. On bioload only, you would be looking at 6 neon tetras, which isnt fun to watch like a shoal of 30 would be. Get a beautiful Betta and some snails.

Get a solid red betta and a bunch of red cherry shrimp the reds will pop so nicely in there!

As many colorful fancy guppies that could fit- or a spectacularly colored betta!
