I started my Juwel Rio 180 four months ago. After a while, I started having beard algae. It almost completely disappeared in the last few weeks thanks to moving my spray bar from the side to the back, adding a CO2 diffuser, and finally, a skimmer.

However, I've been experiencing a new type of algae for a few weeks now. It looks like filamentous algae. Small hairs are covering the entire window, so once every 3/4 days I scrape them away.

  • My CO2 meter is always light green (not in the photo because I just added new solution)
  • The light is on 8 hours a day, and the CO2 is turned on 2 hours before the light goes on and turned off half an hour before the lights turn off.

Household:

  • 10x small orange shrimp
  • 4x Amano shrimp
  • 4x Clown loach
  • 3x copper salmon
  • 9x neon tetra
  • 3x Dwarf algae eaters

I tried less light and water changes (10%) to no avail. Anyone any tips how to get rid of it or should I just accept algue is part of job?
