It’s been a long, stressful week at work wrapping up a major transition to new management software, but it’s finally the weekend and I’m trying to decompress before what I really hope is the last rough week of this whole process.

One small, cozy ritual that’s been helping more than I expected: after putting my dog Ripley to bed, I spend the last 30 minutes before my aquarium’s “sunset” just sitting quietly and watching the fish drift and school around. No emails, no checklists—just soft light, gentle movement, and a little peace at the end of the day.

I’m really glad I decided to get back into this hobby back in August. The last aquarium I had was probably over 25 years ago, back when I was a teenager, and I’d forgotten how calming it can be. There’s something quietly comforting about rediscovering a simple joy from childhood when you need it most. Definitely my happy place.
