I have a new tank I've been cycling for about a month. Inside is driftwood that I got from a river that I dried out for 6 months then boiled and soaked until waterlogged, and some plants I got from two different sellers. No fish inside yet.

Today I noticed these little white worms and white dots all over the glass. What are these? Are they friend or foe?

The dots are copepods/ cyclops. They’re fine. Everything is fine. When you add fish they’ll be snacks.

  2. Whether they’re detritus worms or rhabdocoela, just know you’re very lucky that they aren’t planaria lol xD I’m dealing with planaria in my tank right now and I *wish* it could have been these guys instead </3

  3. Anecdotally, when those guys have shown up in a cycling tank for me it means it’s about ready when I test it for real.
