Both of these bowls are on sale at a local fish pet shop. My partner always wanted to take care of fishes and I've been lurking on this sub for a while.
We are both aware that we can only keep the smallest of creature inside and probably only 1 or 2
What are some possible fishes we can keep in these, and things I should check out before buying?
Shes thinking of getting a singular beta fish while I'm thinking of something like shrimp, or just a few tiny fishes.

Idk what size these are but betta needs minimum 5gal. These would be great for shrimps & snails !
Nothing. Nothing should ever go in those bowls. Fish require filtration and space.
Personally I would only keep shrimp and “pest” snails. Anything else it is too small for a healthy, happy life. 5 gallon minimum for any fish and even at 5 gallons your only real option is a betta. Getting a 10 gallon opens your options a lot and a 20 gallon opens it even more.
Small snails would be interesting in a planted bowl like this. Before I got snails I underestimated how entertaining they would be. You could be really creative with the scape of it too! Definitely no fish
Ask her if she wants to keep fishes, or if she wants a fancy looking bowl.
Because, frankly.. You can’t do both, especially as new fishkeepers.
Here’s a friendly starter tip, small tanks are MUCH harder than bigger tanks. You’re keeping the water, not the fish, and the more water you have the less capacity you have for fluctuations and swings.
Meaning little tanks turn little swings into BIG problems.
Shrimp you could definitely keep in a bowl like this, but they are not really a starter friendly critter, in a not starter friendly aquarium, so you’d need to be aware of how much difficulty you’re setting yourself up for.
As an aside too, bowls are a sod to clean compared to flat glass sheets, in my personal opinion.
Not big enough for any fish. Plants only, imo
I would say only plants but you could do a fun little planted bowl or make it into a terrarium.
How do you feel about Sea Monkeys?
They are great for shrimp and snails!
But don’t put fish in a bowl.
I d e a
Get one of those clear tube things and make a water bridge between the two. And then you can probably get away with something besides just shrimp. But shrimp may be best anyways
Btw those plants will probably die without a proper light above, and bowls make that very hard to do.. just makes maintance in general hard. (I know this from when I had to take care of a friend’s betta in a bowl when he was on vacation)
