Looking for reasons to support or not to support my idea of changing my substrate.
When I put this tank together I didn’t think through my substrate choice all that well. I’ve feel inclined to change to a sand/gravel mix with a nutrient base.
I think it will help my EBC and better support my plants.
Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated!

EBC 1 – 4in ish
Orange platies 10 – 12
Minnow
CPDs down to about 8
Black neon 1 lone survivor actually hatched in tank naturally. The rest aged out and passed. Bristlenose – 1
A cpl amano shrimp (I think EBC has gotten a few)
Malaysian trumpet snails
Assassin snails

Rather than doing a full change could you not mix in a bit of active substrate? Like vacuum a bit out and mix a bit in.
