I posted a few days ago I wanted to get into fishing to see if it would be a good retirement hobby. So I stopped at a local store and let the guy sell me some overpriced stuff and give me some “free “tips. I went to the retention pond behind my house while the sun was still up and cast for about an hour, more for practice than expecting to get a bite.

Just as it was getting dark I went out for a few more casts and then boom, this guy hit. Not bad. Not sure how much it weighed. Took him off the hook after a few pictures and moved him around in the water to get him swimming and then off he went.

  1. Those ponds always have a few chunks swimming around. If they end up looking kind of skinny you can always dump in some big bags of fathead minnows. Pond supply shops usually carry them.
