Hey,

I've been fishing with 5.5ft UL ugly stiks for a while now. I want to upgrade to something that will cast 1/8oz spinners and spoons further and will also be more sensitive.

I was thinking of this:

TFO Trout-Panfish II 6'6": https://tforods.com/product/trout-panfish-ii/

Shimano 23 Sedona 2500s: https://www.amazon.com/Shimano-Sedona-2500S-Spinning-Reel/dp/B0C7BJ48PV

My main question is if I should switch to a true 1000 size reel like a Sedona FJ 1000. The main thing I am going for with this rod is casting distance, so I'm not sure which would be better.

  1. This rod is great, casts well and is sensitive. No experience with that reel. Line choice will likely make a bigger difference in casing than reel. 1/8 should go a mile. I use 1/64 and 1/32 without issue.
