Betta Fish: Update: Rescue from Petco

It’s been *one* week since we got this little rescue guy from Petco at 50% off and I wanted to share an update!

First off, thank you so, so, so much to everyone for your amazing advice, support, and rallying for this little fish. When we first saw him, on his side, not moving, body contorted in an S shape, heavily breathing…we didn’t think he would make the ride home. Judging by the November date written on his container, we found out he was there for over five months. He barely responded to movement and didn’t eat. I was worried that even in the small hospital container we kept him in, that he was too weak to even swim up to get air.

I wasn’t sure what I could for him, but after posting, everyone (especially @doji4real !!!) helped me work through his first few days to get him comfortable.

I am SO happy to report that everyone’s advice has led to our little betta has completely transformed!! Our little friend is a strong swimmer and swims around all the time like CRAZY now, up and down the tank, loves to settle in the leaves, is so (overly) interested in food, and loves to follow us around to whichever side of the tank we are at. His body is no longer contorted, he isn’t heavily breathing anymore, and settles himself nicely. His color is also so much brighter, and splays his fins out all the time. He also makes so much bubbles.

I just really can’t believe what a difference it’s been in a matter of 6 days!!!!!!!!!!! This is all thanks to everyone’s advice and help. I so, so, so appreciate it!
