I’ve heard that bass love cypress, but does that translate to a bottomland swamps like pictured?

Structure, bass like structure. If the water is good for them they like places to hide and ambush prey.

Yes. My favorite lake is Caddo Lake on the Texas Louisiana border and it looks just like this.

My favorite spots aren’t this thick but they are what we call Bar Pits. It’s the little ponds where they scooped sand out to pile and make the levee, connected to each other by culverts and joining the St. Francis River on both ends. They are mostly open water with both shores visible and spotted with cypress trees. My dad taught me a trick when I was a kid that he called knocking on the door. You aim a spinner or buzz bait at the base of a cypress tree and hit it, letting the lure fall for a few seconds after and then retrieve fast. If there is a bass nearby, they usually hit it.

I have something like this near me and the only thing I ever find in it is catfish

  5. Screw the bass, I’ve caught some of the biggest crappie in structure like that. Mmm hush puppies

That looks like my favorite bass hole. It also holds bowfin/grennel/choupique, crappie, long nose gar, black drum, catfish, and bluegill. This could easily be the Hatchie River bottoms in west Tennessee

this is what 75% of my fishing is. Run buzzbaits and frogs around them, bump chatterbaits and spinner baits into them. Cypress is by far my favorite place to bass fish

  8. I’m from south florida, I grew up in the swamps…I actually prefer places like lilypads or deeper water like Canals.
Prob not the best spot tbh

  9. Depending on water temp and if there’s engine O2 in the water.
Caught my personal PR in something very similar.
Pretty much 70% of what I fish
