Been thinking about making this purchase to have easier access getting on the water and back Into my truck.
It’s not really the price of this that worries me, I wouldn’t say it’s drilling holes into my kayak either. I’m very worried that after some time a wear, it will start to crack and break my hull after years of use.
I have an Old Town Sportsman pdl 106 I just purchased last year and I want to keep it around for at least another 10-15 years, but if this is going to cut the lifespan I’m just going to go forward with something else.
So if anybody has any more insight on this unit or even have the same setup I do, let would LOVE to hear your thoughts!

Looks shit
Looks awful. Those wheels look worthless.
I had a Hobia PA12 and they were a necessity getting that thing from the bed of my truck and into the water.
Had it about 2 years with no issues.
I once caught my wife sitting in my kayak while it was in the garage with the landing gear down. I thought for sure it would have caused some problems with the plastic from the added weight. But everything was fine.
Just don’t. I purchased last season thinking the same. It will crack the hull if you hit any type of bump, strip the rivets or screws easily. Used it for less than 3 months before ripping it off and buying a horizontal cart. Sad part is I used it on a pelican and a native. Both lighter than your old town. Your best bet is to just get a decent cart( not the yak attack one it is garbage as well). Depending on weight look at Suspenz they make some solid kayak carts. But yes you will have problems with this. If you are dead set on one of these type look for one with track mount or rod hole mount.
Had them. Hated them.
They were difficult to get in and especially out when the full weight of my kayak was pushing up on them (Old Town AP 136s… they are beasts!) I had to replace the OEM plastic tracks with aluminum ones to use them. The paint chipped on the finished metal pieces and a few of the T bolts sheared off. Boonedox sent me replacement pieces, but for the amount I paid (several hundred dollars apiece for two sets), the quality control should have been much better.
Sold them on eBay and purchased a cart from Wilderness instead. Much better quality / performance!
Lots of people swear by these kits, and lots of people have had issues with them as well. Its really a toss up.
The new YakAttack landing gear looks promising though and solves all the issues with the boondox kit. I would hold out or just get a standalone cart like something from suspenz or even a cheap amazon one.
I don’t think I want to mount my cart to my kayak personally. I can break mine down and stow it if I want to, but I usually don’t.
It certainly puts a lot of load on a small contact area. I wouldn’t be comfortable with it.
I chose a C-Tug dolly with the ‘Sandtrax’ wheels. Not as quick and easy, but it’s great on rough terrain, and it’s not point loading the boat.
