I'm so bummed, the butterfly pattern was a big part of why I chose him. What can cause this? I know Bettas will often change color, but this seems like such a massive change in an extremely short amount of time – just over one month since I bought him.

Is there anything I can do to get back his butterfly pattern, or is it gone for good?

(Also dont get me wrong, I still think he's beautiful, and I dont regret getting him or love him any less lol)

    He just seems healthier now so his blue is bluer. It still is stunning.

    * **Tank size**: 40 liters (11ish US gal)
    * **Heater and filter? (yes/no)**: yes
    * **Tank temperature**: 26c
    * **[Parameters in numbers and how you got them]: haven’t tested recently, every time I do parameters are well within normal range. I use test strips which I know aren’t the best, but I’m not worried about it. Tank is heavily planted.
    * **How long have you had the tank? How long have you had your fish?**: 2 months / 1 month
    * **How often are water changes? How much do you take out per change? What is your process?**: Usually 1x/week about 25%
    * **Any tankmates? If so, please list with how many of each**: 2 amano shrimp, a nerite snail, lots of bladder & mini ramshorn snails
    * **What do you feed and how much**: usually live food such as daphnia and home grown mosquito larvae, sometimes pellets
    * **Decorations and plants in the tank**: driftwood, rocks, lots of live plants

  3. Impresionante ejemplar aún y aunque perdió su mariposa sigue siendo espectacular

  4. The white parts of his fins could have been damaged/in the process of healing when you got him originally

  5. Good rule of thumb is to never trust your betta’s coloration until you’ve had them for a bit lol
