I had some free time and decided to stop by petco to stare at the bettas, i noticed this little guy whose spine looked a little bent. I was thinking of trying to get him for free since i had done this before at this location. But im really not sure if it would be ethical to try to keep him alive. Does anyone know if he would be in any pain? Also if it would be ok to get him I only have a ten gallon right now, would that be ok? Or would he need something smaller?

if the betta seems active, shows curiosity, and is eating then it’s most likely not in pain, only way to find out is observing him. if the 10 gal has lots of plants and resting spots then i’d assume it would be all good 🙂
If he doesn’t seem to show signs of pain or discomfort I would try! However I’m no expert on spine issues for bettas
