Caught off a boat. Do they get any bigger than this?

You are South African! Yes, they grow to a maximum of 2m, but that is very rare. Most weigh around 3kg and the angling record is around 6kg, I believe.
For those in the rest if the world it is a snake mackerel, and in Australia and thereabouts it is called a barracouta (not to be confused with a barracuda). I have no idea what South Americans call it. It would be interesting to know.
