when i got banana, he was in roughhhh shape (bacterial infection, fin rot all that) and as he got better he shows so much more personality,,, and his fins are even growing back! (i had no idea they could do that).
usually he is busy nipping at the floaters roots or finding new ways to swim through the various plants (i rearrange them a lot) or napping on a log. but i got these shrimp today and put them in his tank and he is very interested in bottom feeding now. the gravel was bio active when i got it so it’s got quite a bit of particulate in it (big reason i got the shrimp) and he has never been interested in anything in the rocks before. at first i thought he was eating the shrimp but it seems he is just joining the clean up crew.
is this normal? did i just miss him doing this before? either way he is adorable and i love him (yes i regularly feed him)

Little dude is just weird. My fish also does this because he likes to pretend he’s starving and I feed him something that sinks to the bottom of the tank, so it becomes a hunting session that lasts a very long time because he does get it all. Maybe your betta would like that sort of thing? Lol
I had a betta in a tank with some khuli loaches and had to move the loaches. betta was getting really fat because he learned to bottom feed by watching them and then started stealing all their food lol
lol, I swear my lil dragon killed 2 Corydoras. Befriended the 3rd, learned about bottom feeding.
