I'm getting into fishing and i don't have any gear. Are either of these good rod and reel combos for pier and surf fishing and maybe some light boat fishing.

These are both surf rods so really heavy to be doing anything else with but doable sure.

For surf fishing, you want to be past the breaking waves, which is a pretty long cast, my surf rod is 15 feet long. I really like the Ugly Stik Bigwater two piece, with a Penn Pursuit IV 5000s. Otherwise I cant get out far enough.
At least, for my use, that 7ft rod would stay in the truck while I watched other people fish
