is this a sorority tank? personally i’m not too fond of them as issues usually appear eventually. i’m even less fond of them for beginners, but this tank is beautiful and definitely has the coverage to support a sorority temporarily.
i will say, if your local fish store told you this stocking was okay as a first tank, i wouldn’t trust them regarding education purposes.
More info please – how big is this tank? From the photo, it looks too small to be viable for a sorority setup, and even then they are generally frowned upon. It would be much more responsible to house them all in individual tanks.
How big is this tank? I see four bettas in this picture and this tank is way too small for these fish. female bettas are also still not a good idea to keep together unless you’re an expert. do not listen to pet store employees on pet husbandry, their job is to be sales people, not animal experts. most of the bettas in this photo have stress stripes and uneven fins likely due to stress from fights and nipping at each other. These fish need individual tanks(or be rehomed) if you want them to thrive
