I’m new to raising fish,
I heard local Thai people say betta are tough i bought one with small tank
due to my research I should have at least 5 gallons tank and some plants, and low flow water filter, I already ordered a Tank with built in filter from Xiaomi brand, it will arrive soon the question is my betta just currently looking to the black wall that built in with small tank for long time and he swim up, swim down often, is he just chilling or he is depressed in small tank! After I get big tank pls suggest me what should I do for him to get happier 🙏🏼

Real plants! Bettas love plants, if you‘re a beginner I strongly recommend anubias and limnophila sessiliflora, Amazon sword plants are also very easy to take care of. Since you have a long-finned betta, be careful about the current since long-finned bettas struggle with strong currents. Also, bettas tend to get stressed when the water is too open, I would recommend getting some floating plants or leaves like Indian almond leaves!
