Got my first half moon betta and…. do they normally float unmoving? …. do they normally float? Am I panicking rightfully over swim bladder issues? Am I just an anxious first time ornamental fish owner?
My veil tail betta swims everywhere. He has a 75L deep tank and is constantly swimming around. I get this dude is *fancier* but not sure- maybe Im paranoid? Maybe he likes the surface?
Tank:
– Nitrates, ammonia etc 0. Planted, had guppies in there to start the cycle back in January or feb.
– warmer then the petstore water- theirs is in aircon, mine is probably 25-28c. The ambient temperature is usually 33c here.
– Indian almond leaves in there for tannins. We have a tree, so an *endless* supply.

Yes!! That’s how they rest 😀 Betta fish surface for air so they like to rest at the top of the tank so it’s easier for them. You can get a hammock for them it’s like a little plastic leaf, or if you prefer natural, Anubias plants are good for them to rest on too!!
Gorgeous fish btw!!!
I’ve been freaking out about my Betta baby because this is his floating pattern too!
He floats, swims and then just stops and looks mindless and it freaks me out!
Good to know it’s normal Betta behavior
