I set up my tank back in February 2025. In the first batch of plants, I ended up with a little hitchhiker fish egg. It hatched and she has now grown into a beautiful, lively and happy Wapoga Rainbowfish. I know she is a schooling fish, but I cannot find any other Wapoga Rainbowfish to buy for her. The LFS where I bought the plants have not restocked their supply in many months, and I called the other LFS (which is a pretty major operation), and they checked with their suppliers who said they couldn't get any either. Websites like Dan's Fish and Aquatic Arts are all out of stock. I love my little girl (who we call Baby) and she does seem perfectly happy on her own. She eats well and is very active and friendly. But everything I've read says she needs to be with a school of her own kind. I wouldn't be comfortable giving her back to the LFS because their fish don't always look well cared for. At this point, should I start looking for other types of Rainbowfish to be her companions?

It doesn’t look like they school with different species, and I’ve heard any hybrids are not particularly beautiful.
Crazy idea, maybe ask Gary Lange if he has spare eggs?
