My dad signed us up for a trout derby in about a week. I’m not sure what kind of trout will be stocked but I’m assuming it will be rainbows. The pond is small, it looks like 750ftx100ft. I’ve been having successful catching stocker limits this year but I’ve never done an event like this. Does anyone have any experience/advice for fishing trout derby’s? Floating garlic power bait off a Carolina rig has been my biggest producer of rainbows this year, but I’m not sure if it will be the best method in this situation. Any advice is appreciated.

Exactly what youre doing works for stocked trout anywhere. If youre serious about it id probably have a few colors. If the powerbait isnt doing it for you try a roostertail or casting spoon.
