I have a st croix medium lite 7ft pole. I broke off the tip stupidly tying a knot. My question is should I put a new tip right above the current eye still attached or should I cut off that remaining guide and put a tip right underneath it?

If that is a wart, cover it with duck tape, it will begin to kill it.
It’ll look a little silly, but I’d try to put it on top as is. Cutting graphite rods is not always easy without them splintering, and the break you already have looks fairly clean

I don’t know anything about St. Croix rods, but some mfrs will replace broken sections for a nominal fee–I know Browning did that, and some of the others. Might be worth a look.
