So to my knowledge this is a spotted bass. There have been several articles in the past year saying Alabama bass are invasive to my local waters endangering the local largemouth species. But Spots and Alabama bass look so similar to me.
I just want to make sure for next time that I’m not releasing an invasive species back in.

Spotted bass subspecies include Alabama and Kentucky- I don’t know how to tell them apart but yes, Alabama strain spotted bass are invasive in some areas
