I’ll start by saying I have six shimano reels this is my first abu Garcia reel. First impressions it feels amazing in your hand it just feels better quality material I can’t lie. I don’t usually palm the reel but it feels right with this. It definitely requires some set up but once you dial it in it casts super far. If you turn the brakes all the way up and the spool tension up you absolutely can launch a lure as hard as you can without thumbing the spool. I like the ten brake settings you really can dial this thing to any lure and any condition and get great distance. If you’re in the market for a new reel I’d definitely check this thing out it’s bad ass. Feels like a sports car and the curado feels like an suv or mini van lol. They’ll both get you where you need to go but this thing just feels money

  1. These look sick, but boy I’m not sure I can live with that sound. Seems louder and more pronounced than the Shimano DC whine. What do you think?

  2. I just got a tatula 100 for long casting on my favorite moving baits rod. I hate shimanos dc noise and lately ive just not been enjoying shimanos casting reel designs at all. They bore me for some reason anymore. Love this gen of tatulas but I kinda wish I got that voltiq sx instead… I way prefer its dc noise to shimanos and its just a neat looking reel. I think abu is going to have a solid comeback and some real competition against daiwa and shimano in the next couple years. Maybe ill finally choose to fish a reel outside of the big 2

They look super badass if you’re into DC. Durability would be the defining factor for me. I’d sure consider the SX for skipping if they hold up over the next year or two.
