Got some old sand and gravel in a bucket i’m gonna be using soon with these worms taking residence, and i’m not sure what they are. should I be worried or are they good?

  1. uhmm yeah they absolutely pose risk, you need to clean everything before you use it in an aquarium.

    Not a clear enough view of them to confidently ID, but from the general shape, they’re probably chironomid midge larvae.

    To get your ahead of it because these posts always get a ton of “mosquito larvae” answers, these aren’t mosquito larvae. Wrong shape, too elongated and wormy. Though, if they swim with the same twitchy motion, that would confirm choronomid. They swim the same way, but hang out on the bottom/in the substrate and are much longer.
