One of the big reasons I decided to get into fishing was I thought it be it’d be relaxing, but it’s been pretty frustrating. I first tried out a braided line with a flor lead but kept losing my leads and eventually do to it be being windy or something else idk my reel end up all tangled. I was like ok probably my fault I Haden t fished since I was a kid or owned my own pole. I’ll just go with some good old classic mono line I’m pretty sure that what we had when I was younger i it worked fine. But I get a roll of mono and it’s pretty much unusable completely un spools and won’t stay around the reel at all

maybe you need to spool line with more tension or your reel has some issue with drag settings.

  2. It happens, you will learn. That’s part of the fun man. Just do some research and try to keep some tension on your line when reeling.

Learn to tie your knots. Then you wouldn’t keep losing the leader. I mean, would you get into any other hobby without learning the most basic of basics first?

The weight of line that you have may be too thick for your reel. You may see if you can get a hold of some nice 8 pound line.

Get a Zebco 33 and a folding chair. Relaxing is something you should practice. Fishing is simply the excuse to go to the relaxation spot.

If you catch anything, that’s bonus.

When you spool your reel, make sure the label side is up on the roll of line, and hold the line tight so it goes onto the reel evenly

  7. Wtf? What lb test is that? 20?

Do yourself a favor. Spool your reel with 8lb test. You arent going to catch a 100lb catfish.

You’re right. It’s not for you. It’s for EVERYONE! Patience is the biggest thing you’ll learn. Good luck and tight lines. Hang in there. Oh and braid. Definitely learn about braided line.

  9. Everyone goes by this phase. First time(s) is always frustrating. Keep on, search stuff, do shit, buy shit, and that’s the way

  10. Less pressure to catch a fish brother. Enjoy being out and learning. Master the skill.

  11. It looks like a combination of problems. line is too heavy for that reel and is likely too stiff and springy for a spinning reel. Get limp cast-able mono that is lighter. I am not sure what you fish for. For context, I fish smallmouth bass and use Berkeley Triline XL (red package).. XL = extra limp. 10 to 12lb Max on a small 2500 size reel. For salmon I throw 10 to 14lb on a 4000 size reel. There are other spinning reel friendly brands that offer limp cast-able line, do a little research for those.

Also, make sure you are throwing enough weight when casting. Not enough the wind can really impact or slow the cast causing it to ball up.

Lastly, when your lure lands, try to stop and start feeling as it lands. If you don’t and loose line is off the reel, just close the bail and do not reel loose line. Grab the blank and line above the reel and reel over your hand to create tension as you start to reel. If you reel a loose baggy loop of line it will tangle.

Those things should sort this out
