Recenty had my pole break and not sure what to get next. Im still pretty new to fishing and still learning the different pole types. Was just wondering if this would be worth it for the price. I heard the the Shakespear reels are iffy. I do have a Shimano R2000 that I will probably be throwing on there. TIA

Hell, if I had 40 bucks and needed an UL rod and reel, I’d do it.
Yeah, go for it if you want an Ugly Stik.
The Elite rod itself MSRP’s at $84: [Elite Spinning Rod](https://www.uglystik.com/collections/elite-collection/products/elite-spinning-rod?_pos=1&_fid=36eabf1cc&_ss=c)
If you’re okay with an ultra light, sure. Depends what you’re after.
The reel isn’t good but the rod alone is worth that price if you want a 5′ ultra light. For panfish or small trout this will serve well for a couple of seasons and then you might need a new reel but for that price it’s well worth it.
What species are you going for?
Yes. I’ve used the 4’8″ for everything from salmon to bass.
I still have the ugly stik combo my dad got me 30 years ago can’t go wrong.
Oh dang I’d buy it just for the rod. Reel not so much. I run a Uglystik Carbon Crappie 5’6″ UL and it’s a blast to fish with. I’ve caught pike, bass, crappie, and bluegill on it. I also have a Medium 6’6″ GX2 Uglystik and also another 5′ GX2 UL. I know there are people that don’t like Uglystik but I’ve had nothing but good luck with them.
Man does it cast the bait out and can you reel it back in? If so… probably worth it
Ya run that dude I have fishing rod and reel combos that cost $500 and I still love fishing my Shakespeare 1000 on an ugly stik just the same. They’re quality for the money
They’re terrible set-ups. Save your money and get something good
No. A MicroSeries combo is a better deal. The rod is awesome, and the reel is still crap. But it’s half the price and does the same job as this combo.
