I was wondering if anyone has run into something similar while fishing? I was reading a book that mentioned saprolegnia so I did a little research and wondered if that was it or if this is just scar tissue or if it’s a disease. If anyone has insight I’m glad to hear it.

I find that saprolegnia often infects the head. Usually on a wound. But this could easily be a scar.
If it was fuzzy and sorta wiped off, I’d call saprolegnia.

  2. Fish? I like fish. Personally I don’t consume that part of the fish and cooked properly it’ll be harmless. I think it could be a type of fungal infection as well.

  3. In the future most fish related diseases are typically harmless to humans the worst looking being like red spot disease but you can still cook and eat the fish with no ill effects
