How do I fix this and prevent it from happening again?
I re-spooled some 10lb braid on my Shimano Nasci reel and it keeps spinning instead of the drag system, preventing me from being able to reel my lures in. What is the cause of this issue and how do I fix it, I just unspooled the reel as seen in the clip.

Tighten the drag? Otherwise, maybe you spooled it in reverse and disengaged the anti-reverse

Did you use backing? Braid needs something to grab onto to prevent the line from spinning.

As others ha e said your braid is slipping around the spool. You need to put something down on the spool behind the backing for it to bite into to prevent the slipping. Electrical tape is best, but some people prefer using a bit of mono line as the first layer and then braid over that, eithrler way works.

Just tape the line down, this happens with braid if you don’t. Super simple and common with braid. That’s the easy fix that’s never let me down.

If your spool has holes in it, i think you can tie it to one of those as an additional option to everyone else’s comments.

A few feet of mono tied to spool and tied to braid. Will prevent braid spin.

If that’s the Walmart reel I think it is, just go ahead and get a new one that’s a few steps up. I bought the same combo. It’s great, but the reel will kill itself over the slightest inconvenience
