Betta Fish: I really want to buy this one, but it’s labeled as diamond eyes. What should I do? I’m not familiar with this and can’t tell if it would progress or has it already?

It’s going to live in someone’s tank whether it’s yours or someone else’s. Might as well get the one you want, at least you’re aware of its potential health issues and can be prepared for it, whereas someone else may have no idea.

Diamond eye is when the dragon scales grow on the eyes…causing blindness. Bettas can live with limited vision. Just feed at same location… and tap tank before feeding… and best with no tankmates… they can lead totally normal lives…

Get it! If vision issues are prevalent, get a floating betta hammock that attaches to the tank and always feed in it so he knows where to find food

I think this seller is using “descriptive words” as a unique nickname. I hope that this one won’t develop it as they dont even label their samurai betta.

Well the only issue is more than likely your betta will go blind but who really knows that’s a chance you take with any betta that has the metallic genes. I have a koi female and one of her eyes looks just like this and she’s fine it’s never progressed so I think it’s just a gamble . I’d say if you love that one then get it. I also have a beautiful male Stars and Stripes betta who when he came to me he had Popeye in one eye well he ended up losing that eye and he’s still beautiful and sees very well so it is just up to you really .
