Just wanted to share these little cuties I received recently. Got four juvenile Ivanacara adoketa. They are still fairly rare from what I gathered, which explains why they are pricey (for a freshwater fish especially). If you can get them they are often between 35-75 € per fish.
But OMG they are worth it. Still healing up some damaged fins from shipping, but overall very healthy and active. They are still juveniles but already the colors look amazing. The teal and black markings kinda remind me of the banshees / Ikran in Avatar.
And they are so boisterous and unafraid. They followed me and my hands from day one. Feels like a litter of puppies some days :).
I’ve had Golden Eye cichlids (Ivanacara anomala) for several years. And while they are pretty and fairly outgoing, they can’t hold a candle to these adoketa. Been spending so much time just watching these four cuties and can’t get enough.
Here’s hoping there will be pair forming naturally. Would love to get some fry to raise up and share.
Anyway, if you haven’t heard of them or are already thinking about getting some, you definitely should pull the trigger :).
