My kid apparently had a profound moment of connection with a betta in a tiny tank at the fish store, where she said they looked deep into each other's eyes for a long while. She came home determined to give a betta a better home than they have in the store. She came up with a plan to save money and do extra chores to earn her way to a tank in her room. Well that was 4 months ago, she's been working hard toward it ever since and here is her tank that has been cycling for 3 weeks!
She started out talking about wanting to get these bright rainbow colored plastic plants but her dreams changed shape as she educated herself about bettas more. She's ditched the idea of artificial plants all together and has been working on making a jungle underwater. She's feeling really proud of how enriching she thinks it will be.
It's still not done cycling but we are hoping to soon let her choose her first betta.
