Hey everyone I’m looking to buy my first fishing rod under 120. And I’m currently thinking on this product

https://www.costco.ca/p/-/amundson-savvy-rider-backpacker-r6-fishing-kit/4000395957?storeId=10302&partNumber=4000395957&langId=-24&catalogId=11201

Which is 130 cad plus tax which is equivalent to about 100 USD let me know what y’all think of this rod as an all-purpose fishing rod.

And if you have any alternative in the same rough range please let me know!

  1. I would rather buy my own rod that cost around $60-70 and spend the rest on lures that i like.

Do you need the portability? Don’t get me wrong, I don’t know enough about rods and reels to offer advice there. But I do know that if you don’t need the portability, don’t sacrifice for a better rod to get it.

I second u/palata_09 in that I would not pick up a “starter set”. I would specifically choose each piece instead.

For me personally, any $50 spinner/rod combo works fine but I’m a noob and have no clue what I’m doing. I’m just fishing along side my kid because it gets him out of the house and it’s what he likes to do. LMAO. Lures will be specific for what you want to fish for and where you live, so forget the starter bundle junk.
