Bought a new seat. Unscrewed the old one and found this. How screwed am I? Is there anything I can do?

Have you noticed that you have to drain your Yak after every trip? That is awfully close to your scupper. Do you have access to the interior? If those are the only cracks, you could use some Yak welding. Do you have any plastic from drillings or cuttings? (FYI…I keep a 4oz cup fulla drillings and cuttings)

Why is your seat screwed down?

If the wood around that seat base is soft, probe 2 to 3 inches around every hole before you bolt anything back down. Dry solid core can be filled with thickened epoxy and redrilled. Black wet mush means section repair, not a bigger screw.

I mean i’d just slather it in silicone and cover with some waterproof tape and move on with my life and keep fishing.
