My betta Baja, as the name suggests has been changing color for around the past week. I tested the water but it seemed fine with all zeros (the low nitrates is because of the high amount of plants i believe). He is in a 10 gallon with some shrimp and a nerite snail. I’m hoping he isn’t sick or anything but i’ve been getting mixed results of what is happening. I have attached a photo of how he looked a little under a month ago and how he is looking now.

Edit: Forgot info, 10 gallon, sponge filter, heater, 78 degrees, 0ppm ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, every two weeks 20% water change, feeding fluval bug bites betta formula. He acts like he always has, and still loves eating.

  1. Idk but it could be something not in standard testing kits? Have you added something that might have paint chipping or something? Wishing yall the best!!

Hi OP, what’s your pH and what’s your water source for water changes? Thanks

How long have you had him? Has his color been consistent the whole time before this?
