My otocinclus has a red face and is jumping around a lot in my tank. Does it have to do with stress or are my water levels off?

True story but tangential and unrelated. We got some Otos to put in our daughters 30g from Petco (I know). After a while the algae disappeared this one “oto” was getting really big. Then one day I was watching my wife feed the tank and I said “honey, I don’t think this is an oto, it just ate flake food.” It got even bigger and more aggressive and we took it back to the LFS where they said it was a flying fox.

As for your red face I think there’s nothing you can do but observe until something that looks treatable shows up. Basically I don’t think you can do anything but wait and see.

I don’t know what’s wrong with your oto, just wanted to say beautiful photo however, I’d kind of love to paint it.

Tank looks like it’s been set up for a while, are your liquid test kit samples all normal?
