Hi I’d love opinions and advice on my new betta/tank. I have everything set to ideal perimeters. I initially thought he was a female betta but after further research I believe he is a male Plakat galaxy koi betta (???) I would like to say I’m not super educated in types but I’ve had him for about a week after a month of cycling. There is one golden mystery snail in the tank. I haven’t noticed any signs of stress so far but I figured I’d ask the experts if they notified anything from these pictures or had further advice to give thanks!

Hi OP, how was the tank nitrogen cycled before adding the fish? Was an ammonia source added to feed and grow the good bacteria and their growth verified by testing?

The cloudy water is concerning. Can you share your test results inclusive of ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and pH?

If using test strips ammonia is often excluded as strips struggle to test accurately for it. We don’t want you to assume all is okay when the cloudy water indicates a possible ammonia spike – highly toxic.

    Thanks

  2. I would be testing your water, the cloudiness is concerning.

Edit: referencing the first photo, the last one looks better. Is there a time gap between them?
