A guy from Facebook marketplace gave it to me for free and said it wasn't but when i searched in Google it says it's very agressive.

My tank has 2 plecos, colisa lalia, a lot of guppies and some other fish

They have ill intent, they want to kill and eat everything. But they are incompetent hunters, I never saw a crawfish catch a normally functioning fish in my tank.

Be sure you have a cover, though, they’ll climb out of an open top tank.

They will eat everything and anything aggressively… provided they don’t have any other species hunting them

I love them, but they will eat anything they can, and uproot plants if they don’t like the placement.  They’re slow hunters, so you might be ok,  but there may be casualties

I had success with keeping a crayfish with golden wonder killifish as they mostly stay exclusively at the water surface. That being said he did manage to snag a couple of them every once in awhile.

You’ll think it’s all good for while, but one by one. . . He’ll get them. Very patient, very aggressive, very hungry. Also, he will destroy every plant just for a bite or two of each.

  6. Dwarf Mexican crayfish are your best bet they can still kill fish but they are smaller and have a harder time catching fish

If you need a bare tank, put a crawdad in a well planted community tank and wait. They are quite amusing and nearly indestructible. Escapist too. Good luck 👍

    Um bruh. Is water wet?

Does anything about that creature say it’s not there to eat you?

It’s literally a big underwater cockroach.

  9. Very small ones like dwarf Cambarellus species are workable, but yes anything larger is going to be destructive/aggressive/opportunistically predatory.

Digging and shredding plants, grabbing at tankmates etc. Not really a community tank creature

the plecos and gouramis won’t be safe in the same tank as the crayfish.

they’ll _look_ fine, but they might get their fins occasionally trimmed accidentally (non consensually) and this will stress them out over time. so in short – it’s not a great idea but u will probably be fine with keeping them together while u set up a seperate tank for the crayfish

  11. They will eat any fish that they can catch. The ones that stay in the top third of the tank *might* do okay, but since you’ve got plenty of plants for him to climb for a nice vantage point, probably not.

  12. That crayfish is gonna wreck that tank. I love them and they have a ton of personality but they are aggressive and destructive. Also they are nocturnal so they will catch and kill sleeping fish.

Crayfish kill. Thats what crayfish do. Plants, fish, you. They want to kill it all.

  14. I have a big blue crawfish. He’s in his own tank, as they should be kept. I got him rosy red minnows, in addition to a varied diet. He refuses to eat them. I have been feeding those fucking minnows for a year. Your experience may vary.

We woke up one morning to our crayfish hanging off the filter intake while triumphantly waving a molly.

Edit: Apparently that was the panther crab.

GET THAT CRAYFISH OUT OF YOUR BEAUTIFUL PLANTED TANK!!!!

It will DESTROY your plants! Also eat your fish.

I have a local juvenile crawfish atm, but ive had a blue for 2 years before he died from an unsuccessful molt. They will eat all your plants and unroot everything you put in there. They wait for healthy fish to sleep then they ambush. My mollies were super healthy but got caught a few times resulting in half eaten fins. Once this happens it’s only a matter of time before healthy is no more and they get them. I love mine and continue to catch local mosquito minnows/ local water plants to float on the top to replenish the tank. I believe they need regular vegetation bc they love devouring whatever I put in there.

Yes, I grew up in Cajun country where they have crawfish farms. They are definitely aggressive and will fight anyone and anything. They’ll even square up with a grown ass person. They sure do taste great with some Louisiana Crawfish Boil seasoning and melted butter, though.
